Series of 1928 $1 Silver Certificate Star Notes - Values and Pricing

Series of 1928 $1 star notes are fairly common.  Of the six types of 1928 one dollar silver certificate star notes, the regular 1928s are the second most common.

There were probably around ten million 1928 $1 star notes printed.  Today a circulated note will cost around $35.  However, uncirculated 1928 silver certificate star notes will cost closer to $250.

All 1928 one dollar star notes were printed in 1928 and for a few days in January 1929.  1928 notes are signed by AW Mellon and HT Tate.

All 1928 silver certificate star notes feature a portrait of George Washington at center and a blue seal on the left hand side of the note.  All 1928 $1 silver certificate star notes are known as “funnybacks.”  They get this name from their distinctive back design.
