Series of 1934 $5 Federal Reserve Note - Values and Pricing

Series of 1934 five dollar bills with a green seal are very common.  Some are even still in circulation.  Any 1934 five that isn’t in perfect condition will typically trade for around $7.  1934 green seal fives in perfect condition can be worth $20 or more.

Five dollar bills from 1934 with a star symbol at the end of the serial number have a chance to be worth $50 or more.  The value of 1934 star notes purely depends on condition and the serial number.

1934 $5 green seals can also have a low serial number.  If the serial number of your bill has six or seven leading zeros then it will certainly command a premium.

1934 $5 Federal Reserve notes actually come in two different shades of green.  Light green fives are more vibrant, but they are also more common than the dark blue green seals.

Series of 1934 green seal five dollar bills were signed by W.A. Julian as the Treasurer of The United States and by Henry Morgenthau Jr. as the Secretary of the Treasury.

As with most five dollar bills, the series of 1934 five has a picture of Abraham Lincoln on the front and The Lincoln Memorial on the back of it.  All series of 1934 five dollar bills were printed in Washington DC.  However, they were issued for all twelve Federal Reserve districts.  The twelve districts are Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Richmond, Atlanta, Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Dallas, and San Francisco.

Series of 1934 five dollar bills with a green seal are called Federal Reserve Notes.  As such they have the following nomenclature on them:  “This Note Is Legal Tender For All Debts, Public And Private, And Is Redeemable In Lawful Money At The United States Treasury, Or At Any Federal Reserve Bank.” And “Federal Reserve Note The United States Of America Will Pay To The Bearer On Demand Five Dollars” – “The United States of America Five Dollars” And keep in mind that nothing from 1934 will ever say “In God We Trust”.
