Series of 1934B $5 Federal Reserve Note - Values and Pricing

Series of 1934B five dollar bills with a green seal are very common.  Any 1934B five in circulated condition will typically trade for around $7.  1934B green seal fives in choice uncirculated condition can be worth $20 or more.

Remember that the series letter refers to the letter listed after or below 1934 as seen below.  It has nothing to do with the letter that begins or ends the serial number.

Five dollar bills from 1934B with a star symbol at the end of the serial number have a chance to be worth $50 or more.  Star notes are collectible because they were printed less frequently than regular issues.  The value of 1934B star notes is based purely on condition and serial number.

The real rarity for 1934B five dollar notes can be found in the New York district star notes with a face plate number 212.  Regular issue 1934B fives from Kansas City are also very difficult to obtain.

Series of 1934B green seal five dollar bills were signed by W.A. Julian as the Treasurer of The United States and by Fred M Vinson as the Secretary of the Treasury.

As with most five dollar bills, the series of 1934B five has a picture of Abraham Lincoln on the front and The Lincoln Memorial on the back of it.  All series of 1934B five dollar bills were printed in Washington DC.  However, they were issued for eleven of the twelve Federal Reserve districts.  The issuing districts are Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Richmond, Atlanta, Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Dallas, and San Francisco.  Dallas did not issue 1934B fives.

Series of 1934B five dollar bills with a green seal are called Federal Reserve Notes.  As such they have the following nomenclature on them:  “This Note Is Legal Tender For All Debts, Public And Private, And Is Redeemable In Lawful Money At The United States Treasury, Or At Any Federal Reserve Bank.” And “Federal Reserve Note The United States Of America Will Pay To The Bearer On Demand Five Dollars” – “The United States of America Five Dollars” And keep in mind that nothing from 1934 will ever say “In God We Trust”.
