1928B Five Dollar Red Seal Star Note - Values and Pricing

Series of 1928B five dollar red seal star notes are broken down into two different categories.  There are 1928B mule star notes and there are 1928B non-mule star notes.  You are most likely to encounter non-mule 1928B five dollar red seal star notes.

The term mule simply refers to the size of the front and back plate numbers.  If the back number is smaller than the front plate number, then you have a mule.  Non-mule 1928B stars are common and only worth around $50 in heavily circulated condition.  Nicer looking 1928B five dollar red seal star notes should be worth between $100 and $400.  Uncirculated 1928B stars should cost no more than $1,000.

The above prices apply to non-mule series of 1928B five dollar star notes.  Mule 1928B star bills are much more valuable.  Mule 1928B stars start at about $500 and can go up very quickly from there depending on grade and condition.  Send us high resolution scans of the front and back of your note so we can confirm if you have a 1928B mule star note.

No one knows exactly how many 1928B five dollar red seal mule and non-mule star notes were printed.  But we do know that W.A. Julian and Henry Morgenthau Jr. signed all 1928B star notes.

As with all red seal five dollar star notes, the serial number has to begin with a solid red star, contain eight numbers, and end with the letter A.  The seal on the left hand side of the bill will be in red ink.  Red ink was also used for the serial number and star symbol.  All 1928B five dollar bills were printed in Washington DC and feature Abraham Lincoln as the portrait.

We do purchase series of 1928B five dollar red seal star notes in all grades and conditions.  Please send us an email and tell us what you have so that we can make an offer:  admin@oldcurrencyvalues.com
